About Us

The University Staff School is the arm of Federal University of Technology Minna, that provides qualitative Primary Education to the children of Federal University of Technology and its host community. Over the years the school had maintained its objective to produce academic and morally sound pupils through curricular and co-curricular activities, hence, our Motto is ‘Excellence is our goal’. The Staff School was established by the Foundation Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jonathan O. Ndagi. The foundation Headmistress, Mrs. Lami Ato-Smith through her dedication, innovation and hard work laid a good academic foundation for the school.   

The first Chairman of the University Staff School Management Board (USSMB) Prof. M. A. Daniyan paved the way for staff development during his tenure.  Other former Chairmen were: Late Prof. S. A. N. Eneduanya, Prof. A. A. Oladimeji,  Late Prof. J. M. Baba,  Prof. K. R. Adeboye,   Prof. H. O. Akanya  Prof. V. I. Ezenwa,   Late Prof. M. I. Ogunbajo,  Late Prof. I N. Mogbo, Prof. D. I. Wushishi,   Prof. Robert O. Okori, who is the current Chairman of USSMB

The school is composed of two Sections namely, Nursery and Primary Sections.  The Nursery Section was established on 7th November, 2008, by the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. S. Audu. The first coordinator of this section was Mrs. Agnes Dauda Thomas. Alhaji Adamu Umar is presently coordinating the section with a total of four hundred and fifty- two (452) pupils with a staff strength of eleven (11) teaching staff, three matrons and three nannies.

The Nursery also has a Day –Care Centre meant to cater for children of nursing mothers while at work in the University. The school has a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) which was established 1987 they have been of tremendous support to the school.

The school has qualified, competent and committed staff who have trained many young people that are excelling in various fields of endeavours in both public and private sectors of the nations of the world. The laudable achievements of the school are the product of the combine efforts of dedicated and committed members of staff, the University administration whose financial support, encouragement and motivation of staff had make learning and teaching conducive.

Others worthy of note are the University Staff School Management Board, (USSMB); our dynamic Parent Teacher Association (PTA), currently headed by Prof. Adamu Alhaji Mohammed, the University community and various interest groups and individuals.

Our mission statement is ‘Creating an enabling environment conductive for educational activities where learning is valued and encouraged and developing the total child who will be successful into adulthood’

VISION: 

To create an enabling environment in which each child will be encouraged to lead a healthy life feel valued and develop a high self-esteem.

To enable each child to develop a lively, promote a successful partnership between school, one and the wider community.
